For every ten thousand typical skiers and the equivalent number of snowboarders (each of whom will spend an average of twenty days on the slopes each year), as many as 348 skiers and 710 boarders will sustain serious injuries to the extent of needing medical attention. That’s more than a thousand people! In the case of skiers, most injuries are sustained to the head, shoulders, thumbs, knees, lower legs, and ankles. Boarders tend to injure their heads, shoulders, backs, wrists, and knees. Such injuries are often painful and depressing with long-term effects.
Did you know that last season alone, more than 500,000 people were injured skiing and snowboarding in USA and Canada? According to the same study, approximately 80 people will die skiing and snowboarding this year just in the USA and Canada.
In this book you will get a description of specific ski injuries with instructions on how to protect yourself (and your family) from them and how to provide first aid if it is needed.
You’ll reduce the risk of injuring yourself in a number of ways, thereby guaranteeing more safe days on the slopes for both yourself and your children. You’ll know exactly what to do if someone needs your help or if your friend’s life depends on you.

I can't stand the cold, but my friends and I (with their Kids) go away once a year to ski, it's a bit of a ritual! We have had, on more than one occasion, an injury in the group, and after reading this book I can see why! There are so many things we could be doing to avoid future injuries that we just don't do. Tips on frostbite, chillblains, broken bones, survival in the cold, better protective clothing, falling on the snow properly, even info on the chair lifts - I just would never have thought about these things in the past. I can see why we have had one or two twisted knees now!!!The detail in this book is fantastic, I seriously don't see how this book could be improved. Heaps of relevant photos, drawings, amazing. I'll be telling my friends to read this book b4 we are off again this year, I recommend this book to you if you want to be better protected next time you venture out into the winter snow!!!
